The Alakiventie property was our first additional floor construction project. We built 34 new apartments on the fifth and sixth floors of this housing company, located in the immediate vicinity of services. We also renovated the yard area, added new parking places and built bicycle storage facilities. The property was completed in December 2017.
Building additional floors has gained popularity in recent years. Attic building and complementary or additional construction enables housing companies to finance the renovation of other premises in the property as well as increasing the company’s assets. In older blocks of flats, a high attic space can be used for building penthouse apartments. The addition of completely new floors enables the housing company to acquire several new flats.
The addition of new floors introduces a modern look even to older properties. Selling building rights for the construction of additional floors is an ideal way to finance pipeline renovations. Our first additional floor construction project is located in the Alakiventie housing area in Helsinki. The new flats in this property, which is located near a metro station, were built using our unique additional floor construction concept. The property was completed in December 2017.
We built 34 new apartments based on our concept in the Alakiventie property. New homes were built on the fifth and sixth floors. The one-room, two-room and three-room flats are 34.5–83.5 m2 in size. The homes feature a light and cosy colour scheme. The kitchen sinks and black pulls and handles act as a contrast.
The busy vicinity of Alakiventie includes a sports hall, shopping centre and a few restaurants. The Itäkeskus centre is just over one kilometre away. The new campus of the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences will also be completed soon in the vicinity.
The residents lived in their flats throughout the construction phase. The housing company also ordered the renovation of the yard area, the addition of new parking places and the construction of new bicycle storage facilities from us. During the renovation, we also renewed the parking area in front of the property.
We have rehauled existing construction practices and introduced increased efficiency into design and implementation with solutions suitable for mass production. We used our own module production in the construction phase, eliminating the risks related to weather conditions at the construction site.
